Pirates have taken over my brain and I’m so excited!!
I was able to guest design for Kindred Stamps this month! I cannot express how fortunate I feel to help bring this set into the spotlight! This is the Pirate Set, available today 2/28/25, and I’ll link it here when it’s live on their site!
This particular fandom is my ::obsession::. It has been since the series came out March 3, 2022 and I can wax rhapsodic on it for HOURS. It was a particularly welcoming series for people of color, those in the LGBTQIA+ community, and those looking for a found family and it quickly grew from a sleeper to a hit!
There’s a large cast of characters on this show normally, but these two Co-Captains are the highlight and their story is so fun and interesting. I really wanted to stay true to some of the scenes that are well known in the fandom and I think with this first card, I did that. (I do have another version in the works, but this one was crying out to be made first.)
As they stand in the moonlight, not sure how to express their feelings, it’s become one of the most iconic scenes.
It really was easy to make their silhouettes. All I did was stamp white ink on the black paper, fussy cut them out and then flip them over. (So they’d be on the canonically correct sides! I’m that much of a fan) Then I just added a bit of red for the pocket square that is tucked into his shirt.
I added a deck from a sidewalk stamp, and made a bit of railing and there they are; tongue tied and hesitant, but so enamored of each other under that beautiful moon.
While I made quite a few cards for the release, I have about 25-30 in my mind for this set alone. Hopefully in the next month I’ll be able to do most of them and keep this Pirate Set fresh in your mind! Keep coming back to see what's next!!
